Touratech R9X | The Ultimate Off-road...


With the R9X, Touratech puts the ultimate off-road boxer on wheels. At the Red Bull Romaniacs, the uncompromising enduro twin has already proven its off-road suitability. Equipped with premium components, the R9X will now be produced in an exclusive small series of only five specimens.

 

The Ultimate Off-road Boxer Produced in Small Series

When you look at the R9X’s front area, you can already see the ultimate will to reduction. But don’t let the slim dimensions of the small round headlights fool you! The 7 inches headlights made by Speaker offer a solid illumination of the road thanks to latest state-of-the-art LED technology.


Ergonomics and equipment of the rider’s “workplace” underline the concept of a sports enduro bike. The Magura handlebar comes with hydraulic instruments of the HC3 type, made in the same house. The hand levers are foldable, protected by robust protectors. The ultra-compact Motoscope Pro as the central indicating instrument in the cockpit gives you all the relevant information.

The mainframe is reinforced by two bolted girders. These pipes allow not only a higher twisting stiffness, but also the option to mount a robust skid plate, decoupled from the engine. The rear frame is based on an adaption of the OEM part, reinforced by struts. The crossbeams for the pillion have been omitted; instead, there are two robust rescue handles.

An ultra-slim, especially designed sports seat gives the rider a good mobility when riding off-road. The sporty look of the rear is completed with tiny lights, combining indicator, taillight and stoplight.

The girder of the premium foot peg construction is – like the levers - made of CNC-shaped aluminum.

For the R9X’s chassis, the best currently available components have been used. A 48 upside-down-fork serves as front wheel suspension with especially constructed light metal studs. Closed Cartridges by TT Suspension replace the original insides. This way, riders will not only benefit from noticeably improved response behaviour, there’s also the option of various adjustments: the spring preload and damping of the traction and compression phase are adjustable. The sports fork leg also made by Touratech Suspension has the same individual setting options.

The wheels are spoked on special hubs in the enduro-typical sizes 21 and 18 inches; they come with high-strength aluminum rims made by Haan Wheels.

Untouched is the heart of the R9X, the air- and oil-cooled BMW boxer engine. Thanks to its powerful characteristics, its 1200 cc power can easily be turned to into propulsion even on low-traction ground. A Sinter clutch made by ZF Race Engineering ensures safe traction and extreme resilience. Of course, the appropriate sporty sound is also required – and is delivered by a Stealth-type silencer, contributed by AC Schnitzer.

Each of the five purchasable RX9s will be built by hand at Touratech’s manufactory. During a two-day handover workshop the customer will get intensive instructions for the adjustments of the sports suspension as well as a one-to-one off-road training.
